As the year ends, the corporately run holiday parties associated with many companies provide a unique opportunity to network with co-workers and other key people.
At Italian sports car maker Ferrari, the networking involves some much-esteemed members in vehicle manufacturing and motorsport. After a 2012 year that brought fortune and in some cases failure to the popular motoring company, the holiday time presented a time to set aside the hard work for some light-hearted moments. One holiday time event held at Ferrari's Product Development Centre facility in Maranello is a particularly fanciful chance to see some distinguished employees stepping out of character to bring joy to children.
While Ferrari Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso did not receive the item he so much wanted at the end of this racing season (this season's world drivers championship), the Spaniard was one of several participants to don seasonal garb. Alonso, alongside Formula 1 teammate Felipe Massa, team test driver Marc Gene, Force India test driver Jules Bianchi as well as sports car specialists Andrea Bertolini and Davide Rigon wore red colours for in a different fashion for the Ferrari Kids Christmas celebration. Each driver acting as Santa Claus presented gifts to other Ferrari employees and their children in what has become a traditional event. There would certainly be few (if any) boys and girls invited to this family Christmas party not delighted with the hospitality presented by the iconic sports car builder.
Joined by Ferrari company president Luca di Montezemolo, the Kids Christmas event clearly allowed some of the masters of speed slowed down for the spirit of the holidays.
